FreightConnections was founded in August of 2011 by father and son team John and Vince Aslin, on the premise that shippers and carriers prefer to work directly with one another. As veterans of the industry, their goal was to create the most competitive pricing available to shippers while providing carriers the ability to locate their desired freight, on a daily basis.

In John’s three decades in the industry, he observed that both sides viewed third parties - brokers, freight forwarders, and 3PLs - as a “necessary evil”, and saw the need for an online service that could effectively bypass the middleman.

Vince's strong technical background and experience in online innovation led to novel ideas for how FreightConnections would be different and better, both as a way for shippers and carriers to find new connections as well as to do business with their existing colleagues.

Through the trademarked Automatch™ system and auction-style bidding process, FreightConnections is able to lower shippers costs and provide carriers the opportunity to generate new lines of business, increasing both revenues and profitability. The company is headquartered in the Fox Valley area of Wisconsin, and also has an office in Los Angeles, California in charge of FreightConnections technology and marketing efforts.
